John Motson to retire from the BBC

At the end of the season after 50 years
Personally I find his trainspottery drivel tedious in the extreme and the preference of the BBC for him over Barry Davies for World Cup finals and major matches utterly bizarre.

Hes like the football equivalent of David Attenborough, both have been around donkeys years, well for as long as i can remember and im the others side of 50 now.
Happy retirement Sir, you have done your profession proud and will be missed.

My technical drawing teacher at senior school "spoon - head" said he went to university with motson and whilst they were all out playing football he was indoors studying and didn't appear to show that much interest in the sport.
Having said that he's certainly had a great career even if it did go on a bit too long. Enjoy your retirement motty.

Speaking of Brian Moore I was watching one of those Big Match Revisited shows the other day and Spurs had just drawn in a dismal match with Sunderland on their way to their 1977 relegation
Brian Moore interviews Steve Perryman and says :
If I was a Spurs fan I would have seen nothing there to think you can save yourselves AND
Steve, how do you fancy the Second Divsion ?
You could tell Perryman was pissed off and if at all possible BM went UP in my estimation
